Candle Care & Safety 101

Candle Care & Safety 101

April 28, 2022

How to Light your Wooden Wick Candle - First, be sure your wick has been trimmed to 1/4'. Light the wooden wick from one edge/corner.  It may take a few seconds to light.

Candle Care - Always allow the entire top surface of the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the candle before extinguishing the flame.  This will keep the candle from tunneling (burning straight down around the wick / leaving wax on the sides of the vessel).  Tunneling can drastically reduce the longevity of a candle and can even cause a relatively new candle to self-extinguish repeatedly.  Always trim your wick to 1/4' before re-lighting.

Safety - Always burn within sight.  Keep candles away from flammables.  Keep away from children and pets.  Trim wick to ¼’ before lighting.  Keep candles free of any foreign materials including matches and wick trimmings.  Only burn the candle on a level, fire resistant surface.  Do not burn candles for more than 4 hours.  Stop use when only ¼’ of wax remains.
