Some scents are designed to command attention. Citrus Bay was never meant to be one of them. Back in 2014, when The Beard Baron first launched, the beard care world looked very different. Wildwood represented the deep woods. Pure offered an unscented option. But there was still something missing. A clean, relaxed scent that felt effortless to wear day after day.
That became Citrus Bay. Not the open ocean, but the bay. Calmer water. Slower pace. A laid-back afternoon sitting outside near the water with your feet up and a warm breeze moving through the air. Maybe friends gathered around a patio table at one of those small bayside cafes. Refined but easygoing. Relaxed without losing sophistication. That was always the feeling behind Citrus Bay.
Over the years, Citrus Bay has remained one of the foundational scents of The Beard Baron. Citrus Bay has quietly stayed in the lineup for more than a decade because it fills a space few scents truly do well. Fresh, bright and wearable without becoming overpowering. That balance was intentional from the very beginning.

Most citrus scents tend to lean too far in one direction. They become too sweet, too tropical or overly sharp. Some smell more like candy or cleaner than something you would genuinely want to wear throughout your day. Citrus Bay was built differently. The goal was never to create a citrus scent that tried to dominate the room. It was meant to sit naturally in the background while still feeling fresh, clean and refined every time you wear it.
Ironically, part of what helped shape Citrus Bay came from pure accident. In the early days of building The Beard Baron, I was constantly testing scents and receiving shipments from suppliers while experimenting with different blends and ideas. One shipment arrived damaged during transit, and one of the fragrance bottles had cracked open inside the package. The entire box smelled incredible. Everything inside had been coated in this smooth citrus aroma that instantly stood out to me. That accidental scent became the foundation for Citrus Bay.

Today, Citrus Bay remains one of the most versatile warm-weather scents we make. Bright lime and citrus open the scent with freshness and energy while the subtle coastal character underneath keeps everything smooth, relaxed and understated. It wears cleanly throughout the day without ever feeling heavy or overdone.
To me, Citrus Bay feels like late spring turning into summer. Linen shirts. Woven loafers. A drink outside near the water around four in the afternoon. Somewhere coastal but relaxed. Not flashy. Not trying too hard. Just enjoying the moment and smelling good while doing it. That has always been the spirit of Citrus Bay.
If you’ve worn Citrus Bay before, welcome back. And if you're discovering it for the very first time, I think you'll understand why it has remained one of our most enduring scents. Discover the Citrus Bay Collection
