Scent Spotlight: Waikiki
Waikiki started with a trip to Hawaii. At twenty one, I traveled there for the first time. It was a defining experience. The kind of trip that stays with you long after you’ve returned home. The air, the pace, the feeling of being somewhere completely different from your everyday life. From that point on, I knew I would make my way back. Years later, after launching The Beard Baron, that experience was still with me.
The brand began with three scents. Wildwood, Citrus Bay and Pure. Not long after, I felt the pull to create something new. Something more personal. Waikiki became that next step. It was my way of taking a moment that mattered and turning it into something tangible. A scent that captured not just a place, but the feeling of being there.
Limited Edition
When Waikiki was first released, it was introduced as a limited edition. I gave it a gold label, the first time I stepped outside of the original design. It felt right to set it apart. The first photos were taken at White Horse Beach in Plymouth, Massachusetts. It was a simple setting, early light and close to home.
Afterward, sitting down for breakfast, an idea surfaced that would shape the brand moving forward. If this scent came from Waikiki, then it should be photographed there too. That moment shifted everything. It marked the beginning of traveling for inspiration and building scents rooted in real experiences.
Waikiki didn’t stay limited for long. It connected right away and found its place as a permanent scent. Over time, it became the foundation for a broader direction. Hawaii continued to influence what came next. Maui Gold, Lanikai, Surfrider and Outrigger all trace back here. This wasn’t just another release. It set the tone for what The Beard Baron would become.
The Scent Profile
Waikiki opens with bright citrus from orange and kiwi. Fresh and lively. Coconut follows, bringing warmth and smoothing everything into balance. The result is tropical, slightly sweet and easy to wear. Present without being overpowering. Consistent from start to finish.
Waikiki shines in warmer weather. Spring afternoons. Summer evenings. Days when the sun is out and the pace slows down. It pairs just as easily with a t shirt as it does with a button down. Relaxed, but still put together. And when the seasons shift, it brings you right back.
A Personal Favorite
For me personally, Waikiki is the most nostalgic scent there is. I think it is the perfect warm weather, fruity tropical scent. I always highly recommend it. It is something fun. It is summery, fresh and made for the warmer weather.
